Crisis Intervention
Crisis Services
Legacy provides compassionate and responsive crisis intervention services in multiple locations for children, families and adults. Our crisis programs provide assessment and triage to determine how to best meet consumer needs. In N.J., Legacy provides Children’s Mobile Response and Stabilization and the Screening and Crisis Intervention Program in Burlington County.
Screening and Crisis Intervention Program
We operate the State-designated Screening and Crisis Intervention Program for Burlington County, providing evaluations 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to individuals experiencing a psychiatric crisis or posing a danger to self, others or property.
We make it our priority to screen and triage individuals in crisis within community settings as opposed to a hospital setting. Our certified screeners and mental health professionals work together to stabilize the crisis and determine the most appropriate, least restrictive treatment option.
Our hotline is operational 24 hours a day, seven days a week. To request a mobile outreach or for more information, please call 609-835-6180.
Children’s Mobile Response and Stabilization Services
Legacy operates the State-designated Children’s Mobile Response and Stabilization program for Burlington County. The program provides crisis intervention to families with a child or youth exhibiting emotional or behavioral disturbances that threaten to disrupt their current living arrangements.
Trained response workers diffuse crises at the site of the crisis for up to 72 hours. They work with the family to develop an individualized crisis plan and coordinate in-home follow-up intervention services for up to eight weeks.
Children’s Mobile Response and Stabilization Services are available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. To access services, families and caregivers may call the statewide system’s toll-free hotline: 877-652-7624.
Family Crisis Intervention Unit
The Family Crisis Intervention Unit (FCIU) provides crisis intervention, short-term family therapy, case management and court advocacy to families in an effort to divert them from the formal court system, stabilize them, keep them intact and prevent out-of-home placement.
FCIU serves families who are at risk for court involvement due to an erupting family crisis. The identified individual must be under the age of 18, live in Burlington County and meet one of the following definitions of being in a family crisis:
- Serious conflict between youth and family
- Runaway behavior
- Truancy
- Disorderly persons offense
- Other family conflict or problem
Referrals to FCIU come from the court system, the Division of Child Protection and Permanency and other community agencies, as well as law enforcement and families themselves.
