Duties:
During shift hours, is primarily responsible for completing Screening Assessments on site and in the community. In addition, completes follow-up visits and phone calls as appropriate. When not performing primary Mobile Outreach duties, will triage cases, assist peers with case disposition on, assist with obtaining collateral data as appropriate and answer the 24-hour hotline. May also be asked by the Director to participate in special projects as needed. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to any age-related needs of the consumer population served. Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development appropriate to the consumer population served. He or she must be able to quickly and accurately assess and interpret data about the consumer’s status in order to identify each consumer’s needs and direct the consumer/family to the appropriate age-related level of care and services. Must be a self-starter and consistently maintain a high level of initiative and productivity to meet the department’s goals and objectives. Must possess excellent time management and organization skills. Must be able to professionally handle stressful situations and work pressure. Decision skills must be precise, with the ability to problem solve, negotiate, multi-task and connect consumers safely to the most appropriate, least restrictive treatment environment, as per the screening evaluation. Must be able to interpret and exercise the New Jersey Screening Law. Participation in the department’s on-call rotation is required. Assessment, referral, linkage, hotline coverage, crisis stabilization, development of alternative treatment plans, consultation, providing technical assistance to other clinical staff, consultation with the psychiatrist, supervision and monitoring of patients, screening of patients as per the NJ State Screening Law. Required to report to work in inclement weather.
Legacy operates the State-designated Screening and Crisis Intervention Program for Burlington County, providing evaluations 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to individuals experiencing a psychiatric crisis or posing a danger to self, others or property. We make it our priority to screen and triage individuals in crisis within community settings as opposed to a hospital setting.
Education/Experience:
Master’s Degree and one year of experience in mental health crisis intervention or Bachelor’s Degree in human services plus three years of mental health experience, including one year of mental health crisis intervention. Certified screener preferred, screener eligibility required.
Your driver’s license must be in good standing, with no recent suspensions or violations of careless/reckless driving or excessive speeding of more than 10 MPH, and no more than 2 moving violations within the last 3 years.
